Terms of Use — FileSnap Docs by Roam

These are the Terms of Use ("Terms") for the iPhone application FileSnap Docs by Roam ("the App"), published by Roam HPU ("we", "us"). Please read them. By installing or using the App you agree to them.

Note on the Apple Standard EULA

Apple applies its Standard End User License Agreement to apps downloaded from the App Store unless the developer provides a custom EULA. Apple's Standard EULA is published at:

These Terms supplement (and where consistent, restate) Apple's Standard EULA for FileSnap Docs. Where these Terms are silent, Apple's Standard EULA applies.

1. Licence

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, in accordance with the App Store Terms of Service and these Terms. You receive this licence when you complete the one-time purchase via the App Store.

2. What you get

• The App, with the features described on its App Store listing at the time of purchase.
• Updates and bug fixes that we publish through the App Store, at our discretion. There is no guarantee of any specific update.
• Your purchase is a one-time payment. There is no subscription, no recurring fee, and no in-app purchase as of v1.0.

3. What you don't get

• A right to sublicense, sell, rent, lease, lend, or redistribute the App.
• Any right to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
• Any cloud service, account, sync, or backup operated by Roam HPU. FileSnap Docs is on-device only — your documents and data are stored on your iPhone (and in your iCloud Backup if you have that enabled in iOS Settings).
• Any guarantee that OCR-extracted fields (issuer, type, date, expiry, etc.) are accurate. See §5 below.
• Any financial, tax, accounting, legal, or medical advice. See §5.

4. Your data and privacy

FileSnap Docs does not collect, transmit, or store your data on our servers — because we do not have servers. Document images, OCR transcripts, metadata, and reminders stay on your device. The full statement is in our Privacy Policy:

You are responsible for backing up your documents. If you delete the App, iOS removes the App's data along with it. If you do not have iCloud Backup enabled, the data is gone. Roam HPU cannot recover it.

5. No warranty on output. Not professional advice.

The App uses on-device optical character recognition (OCR) to extract fields (issuer, document type, date, expiry, etc.) from document images. OCR is imperfect. Crumpled, faded, low-light, or unusually formatted documents can be misread. You are responsible for reviewing every document before relying on it for any tax, legal, medical, accounting, regulatory, or warranty purpose. The App's "Confirm" screen is provided so you can correct misreads before saving.

FileSnap Docs is a utility for organising your own documents. It is not financial advice, tax advice, accounting software, legal advice, or medical advice. It does not replace professional review for tax filing, legal disputes, medical decisions, or regulatory compliance. If you need professional advice, consult a qualified professional in the relevant field.

The App's expiry-reminder feature creates iOS Calendar events at dates you choose. The reminder is a convenience, not a guarantee. You remain responsible for tracking and renewing your own documents.

6. Encrypted export feature

The App offers an encrypted ZIP export feature ("Encrypted Export"). When you use Encrypted Export:

• The encryption is performed on your device using an industry-standard symmetric cipher (AES-256-GCM as of v1.0).
• You choose the password. We do not see, transmit, store, or have any way to recover your password.
• The resulting .zip.enc bundle is yours to share by any method you choose. Whoever you share it with also needs the password.
• If you forget the password, the bundle cannot be recovered by us, by Apple, or by any third party. That is the design.
• The v1.0 bundle format is FileSnap Docs–specific (the .zip.enc extension reflects that). A future update will add interoperability with standard PKZIP AES-256 tools. Until then, the bundle is openable only by FileSnap Docs.

You agree that you will not use Encrypted Export to share content you do not have the right to share, and that you will not use it in violation of any export-control or sanctions law applicable to you.

7. Intellectual property

The App, its design, code, branding, and graphics are owned by Roam HPU and its licensors (including Apple where Apple's frameworks or assets are involved). The documents you capture and the data you create are yours.

8. Acceptable use

Don't use the App in a way that violates any law in your jurisdiction. Don't use it to attempt to harm, exploit, or interfere with the App, other users, Apple, or any third party.

9. Termination

This licence runs until terminated. It terminates automatically if you fail to comply with these Terms. On termination you must stop using the App and remove it from your devices. Apple may also terminate the licence under its App Store Terms of Service.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.
• Roam HPU is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to your use of the App.
• Where applicable consumer protection law (including the Australian Consumer Law) implies guarantees, rights, or remedies that cannot be excluded, those guarantees, rights, and remedies apply, and nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude or limit them. To the extent we can limit our liability for breach of those guarantees, our liability is limited (at our option) to re-supplying the App or paying the cost of re-supplying the App.
• Where law permits, the total aggregate liability of Roam HPU to you for any and all claims arising out of or related to the App is limited to the amount you paid for the App.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and surface the change in-app or on the support URL. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia, except where applicable consumer protection law gives you a non-waivable right to bring a claim in another forum.
